Ramadan Program

Ramadan ProgramOn a yearly basis, during the holy month of Ramadan, Ajialouna Association provides social assistance for families in need.

It includes the distribution of the following:

  • In kind assistance that differs in type and amount based on what the donors send to Ajialouna.
  • Cash for families in need or in critical situations.
  • Pantry kits distributed to families who are pre-registered at Ajialouna in Beirut and Tripoli.
  • School stationery.
  • Clothes and shoes for families in need, especially children.
  • Contribution to the various activities that are organized in orphanages.
  • Ramadan Iftar Banquets in Beirut and Tripoli

Ajialouna is implementing the project Ramadan Iftar Banquets during the holy month of Ramadan for about 4,500 families for an average of 27,000 people. The Ramadan meals, as well as the Eid al-Fitr meal, is distributed, in addition to bread, dates, sweets, canned products, and vegetables.

This is in addition to providing Iftar banquets for orphans in all areas of Lebanon.

In 2010 the donations were as follows:

  • Around 1,729 boxes of food rations were distributed in Beirut and Tripoli for registered families at Ajialouna.
  • Ramadan Iftar: 11,416 meals were distributed during the Holy month at Ajialouna’s location.
  • Orphan's Iftar: Ajialouna organized trips to the Holiday Inn Hotel for 361 orphans.
  • Clothes Distributing: During Ramadan and Adha feast, new clothes were distributed to needy families especially for children.
  • A total of 14,305 pieces of new and used clothes were distributed this year.
  • In-Kind Assistance: These items given by donors vary in quantity and quality and they are distributed to widows and needy families.
  • Cash Transfers: these are allocated to needy families with critical financial statuses: 35 Million Lebanese Lira was distributed this year in Beirut & Tripoli.

Mechanism of Action

The beneficiary usually referred by friends, another NGO or School and sometimes heard about Aialouna’s services by media (TV Spots, programs, internet) fills an application and provides the pertaining documents to request assistance.

Ajialouna’s social committee will study the application and visit the household of the applicant to decide on the authenticity of the caseand the budget to assist.

If accepted, the beneficiary will be registered.

The administration issues a card to enable the applicant to benefit from the different programs according to the need of the family.

This program is financed by Zakat donations and other fundraising activities, such as mother’s day event at Phoenicia and Biel. As well as help from ladies who volunteer to cook for the iftar of a needy family and the generous donations of many benevolent individuals who donate in kind goods to be distributed to the needy families especially in the month of Ramadan.

The Social Department receives all year round in-kind contributions as well as new and used clothing in good condition, games and reading books. It distributes them to needy and underprivileged people.
